My sister, Peg, is a journal writer. She is also a letter writer. Do you remember the last time you got an official "letter" in the mail box, postmarked with an actual postage stamp? I still get them, from my sister Peggi. Do I send them? Hell no. Email and texting for me! But I do remember a time that I was so inspired by Peggi's writings, I actually started my own journal!

Dear Diary,
Today the sun actually shone! Hurray! I washed 3 loads of diapers and was able to hang them out to dry instead of putting them in the dryer. Cooked dinner, no one liked it. Dog ran away.

Dear Diary,
Today the sun did not shine. Diapers in the dryer. Cooked dinner, no one liked it, went to McDonalds for hamburgers. Dog came back.
And so it went. After a couple weeks I sat down to reread all my deep thoughts on paper.......Geeezz......thus ended my writing career!
Today the contractor called. Next Wednesday they are coming to start the kitchen Demo. Less than a month ago we called this contractor just to determine if a wall could come down. Wednesday, March 30, 2011...it will come down!
So I find myself once again contemplating the Dear Diary thing just to keep a record of our remodel progress.

Dear Diary,
Today my husband is 59. He is celebrating his Birthday in Kansas with his family. I am in Pocatello trying to prepare for the chaos that is about to land upon us! For the past 10 days I have been sanding all of the kitchen cabinets, drawers and doors, in preparation for re-staining. My "to-do" list, while my husband was away, included the following items:
1) sand all cabinets, doors and drawers
2) re-stain all cabinets, doors and drawers
3) rake all leaves and flower beds to welcome Spring!
4) lay the granite tiles on the basement bar counter, place new sink as well
5) walk the dogs for no less than one hour each and every day
6) cook well prepared meals every night to help with #7
7) loose 15 pounds
I am still on #1...................
In my defense, it has snowed every day thus far. I am sick to death of this weather and will rejoice when the sun reappears, IF it reappears. The snow did hide all of last falls leaves that had been calling out to me! The granite tiles for the basement finally arrived and true to form for this tile company, our order was, once again, shorted. The new sink has been put on back-order. The little ones did get their daily walks...snuck in when Megan was sleeping, not always for an hour, but close. I did manage to eat fairly well. It is quite amazing how long you can make a large pizza last, and the rest....well I am my mothers daughter...
Here is the beginnings of the new ending!
