Ron says "I've always wanted to see Hawkins Reservoir, lets take a drive and try to find it before the ball games. The girls can run around there while we hunt for Geo's!
Wow! That sounded like a fun thing to do! After several days of rain and cloudy weather and strong winds, cabin fever is settling in. So we loaded up the girls and armed with the garmin's and our geocaching stuff, off we went.
Now there is one small problem with rain and 40 degree temperatures. One has a tendency to forget that it IS January in Idaho. About 6 miles into our journey we began to run into icy patches on the road. And snow. Hmmm, I said. Maybe not such a good idea after all. But onward we went. Then came the "no winter maintenance" road and tons of unplowed snow which we plowed right into! What is it with men and 4 wheel drive vehicles?!?! We were fortunate that some other crazed/insane man with a 4 wheel drive had gone thru before us. His truck cut a path and we stayed in those tire tracks as best we could, slipping and sliding all the way. I white knuckled the door handle and feebly asked "We don't even DARE stop, do we?" "No we do not! Surely we will drop in elevation before long" And we did. And the roads cleared and we found the reservoir! And we also found two geo's! In January! In Idaho!!

We took another route home. One that did NOT take us over a pass not maintained in the winter. From the security of the cleared, paved road, I relaxed enough to snap a photo of what we drove through!

Geocaching and January in Idaho. Gotta love it!

Ha Ha Ha!! You guys are so adventuresome! I can't believe you got another 2 geos! It's time I get out there and get some more. You're getting way to far ahead of me. Glad you made it out of there safe! Would sure hate to have Gracie or Jackie miss a meal.
