Tuesday, June 28 – Cindy and I left for the land to set up
her tent and drop off the ATV’s so we could use the trailer to bring up the
generator and supplies on the second trip.
We arrived at 4:30 p.m. And
these next words are directly from BS – and you will soon see why she has been nicknamed
BS…….”put pop-up kitchen up and attached screen, unpacked most of the car and
then it started raining. Chrissy started
mowing, Cindy unpacked car before the rain came in. Rain started at 5:00.
Let up a bit so went out to set up Cindy’s tent. Just got it staked and
skies opened up – cats and dogs came pouring and gusts of wind came howling
thru the trees and barreling down the mountainside – Chrissy whistled at the
bolt of lightening and BS said “Listen! An Elk!” LS just rolled her eyes. Grabbed the ground cover from under the tent
to cover exposed tent windows (Mistake – opps not a mistake, so saith Chris!)
LS & BS soaked to the bone, shoes, socks, hair, clothes dripping – Ran to
kitchen shelter and started rearranging (like all good women) after shuffling
everything around a couple of times, got everything pretty level and decided to
wait for the big stove to arrive to finish setting up the kitchen – 6:20 we decided
we might as well eat dinner – Go ahead and rain on me now God!! So saith BS – Hamburgers,
chips and water and pork& beans made gourmet by chef LS with KFC ketchup
packets from lunch, hamburger grease and mustard!! Water, water, water – where is the hot
chocolate? Hot Tea? Schnapps? Coke?
WHERE?!?! We’re dying here for
something other than water. How did
those pioneers survive?!?! Left our
hamburgers half eaten when rain let up and we were off mowing and tent setting
again. Pulled out the Big, Humongous, and
insanely gigantic plastic blue tarp and tried to figure out exactly how to use
it effectively to cover exposed tent windows on BS tent, BS cursing Coleman for
even making such a ridiculous f-----ing tent! (Aughhhh! LS ears
burning!!!) No luck with the BHIGP blue
tarp – folded it up and stored the darn thing – BS finished unloading cars
while LS kept plugging away at the extremely difficult butt burning mowing
job. Quite the mow job! You go girl!
Started raining again – set up Coleman lanterns in kitchen, BS needed new
mantels on her lantern. ”Can you read this? I can’t read the instructions!”
said BS. Reading of fine print was left to the much younger LS with her one
good close up eye! Which only works on rare occasions in bright light! Stopped raining, set up beds in tents, started
raining again and the wind came in like a mighty Lion. Like we have actually seen a mighty lion come
into anything. That’s it! Good night –
BS slept, LS did not. Monster Wind? Bears?
BS tent zipper? Airplane? Refrigerator running?
No wonder, “sleepless in Montana”.

| Setting up the kitchen! |
Wednesday, June 29 –Up @ 5:30 am. Figured out which way was East! Fixed 1 cup of coffee for both to share,
since LS left her mug back in Poky!
Immediately started mowing, unloading of ATV’s, more mowing – Dishes,
seal up kitchen and tents and head on back to Poky at 8:30. – Passed huge lumber truck on his way up
the road with a crane, backhoe, post hole/well diggers. Yea! If
they can deliver on this road, OUR lumber truck will be able to! ½ way home wind came up so strong we were
blown all over the place, got home later than expected.

None of the videos are playing!?!? WHY?? The kitchen looks very organized. It's so great that you were able to set it up and not worry about it. Besides the awful storm and no sleep, sounds like a BLAST!
